An oil driller arrives in Marseille from deep in Oklahoma, to support his daughter, whom he barely knows but who is serving a prison sentence, accused of a crime she denies having committed. Faced with a language barrier, cultural differences and a complex legal system, Bill makes a point of exonerating his daughter. During this intimate journey, he will make friends with a young local woman and her little girl while developing a wider awareness of his belonging to the world.
