Training for underwater filming

Bluearth is dedicated to training. Here you will learn how to manage underwater filming for cinema. Whether it is as an operator, assistant operator, or even director, adapted training will be presented to you.

Your trainer Jean-Charles Granjon, is a leader of the underwater image in France, his experience is built on 15 years of international shootings. Trainer of divers, actors, and doubles, he intervenes as a specialized executive producer, marine coordinator and aquatic stuntman.

His intuitive approach to marine and underwater photography is complemented by a hybrid technical environment, those of the cinema and the ocean (sailing, diving or military navy). He founded Bluearth in 2011 to share his artistic sense and expertise in marine imaging. Through its developments in the technical industry as well as its experience and artistic contributions, Bluearth has established itself with French and foreign producers as an essential line of marine and underwater production.

Underwater filming – camera operator

Intended for film and audiovisual technicians and/or experienced camera operators, this course will give you a deep understanding of images applied to underwater filming.

In 5 days you will discover the professional framework associated with the intervention in the hyperbaric environment for shooting.

You will get a deep understanding of the principles of mounting multi-camera housings for cinema and DSLR cameras. You will experience shooting situations for documentaries and fiction. You will also benefit from a shared experience based on multiple shooting situations (wildlife, cliff diving, fiction shooting, ice shooting, …). You will be trained on multiple configurations of housings and cameras.

A training in 3 modules given in the classroom and at sea in Marseille. The 3 modules are accessible to non divers. The immersion during the training for module C requires a Level 2 pre-requisite of recreational diver.
Following this training, a complementary module can be given for a specific camera configuration (Phantom cameras for example). Training on request.

Assistant underwater cameraman

This training is intended for assistant operators of fiction and/or documentary in order to be operational on an underwater shoot.

You will benefit from 5 days (40 hours) of training to understand the technical issues related to underwater filming. Training in 3 modules given in the classroom and at sea in Marseille.

You will be able to prepare a multi-camera housing on different technical configurations. You will also have the experience to identify and anticipate the expectations of an underwater camera operator.

Discovery and management of an underwater shooting

Intended for directors and production staff, this training course will lead you to a deep understanding of the multiple aspects of marine and underwater shooting.

In 2 days you will discover the professional framework associated with the intervention in the hyperbaric environment for shooting. You will experience shooting situations for documentaries and fiction. You will also benefit from a sharing of experience based on multiple filming situations (wildlife, cliff diving, fiction filming, filming under ice). You will be trained on multiple configurations of housings and cameras.

During the training, you will benefit from the intervention of a trainer of scuba diver mention B.

Training is given in the classroom and at sea in Marseille.

A training of scuba diver Class 2 mention 0, 1 or 2 B is available on request from your partner training organization.
